The Beezon Lane Brewery off Sandes Avenue in Cumbria was founded in 1822 as E. Hayton & Co. Jonas Alexander operated the brewery as sole proprietor until 1877 when he was joined by his son and they became Jonas Alexander and Sons. They became a limited liability company in 1927. The company was acquired by Duttons of Blackburn in 1947 and the brewery ceased production in 1954. Duttons were taken over by Whitbread in 1978.
