Dent Brewery
Dent Brewery
Dent Brewery was founded back in 1990 in a converted barn next to a former farmhouse at Cowgill, which is halfway between the village of Dent and Dent railway station. It sits in the middle of Dentdale, which is considered by many to be one of the most scenic of the Yorkshire Dales, even though it was incorporated into Cumbria in 1974.
The first Westmorland brewery to have won any awards in the national CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain awards, the beers are brewed from natural ingredients, yeast and water which comes from a natural spring on the hillside above the brewery.
The brewery was completely renovated in 2005, and in 2006 the George and Dragon in Dent village became the Breweries Tap
The beer names were famous for a sheep theme, due to the high population within the dale!
The brewery appears to have gone into liquidation in July 2022.
A video was produced showing how they produced and delivered their beer. It is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-7wk5TkMQM.
