The Eden brewery has now moved to Penrith which is in the CAMRA Solway branch. We wish them future success.
Formally the Eden brewery was based at the Old brewery at Brougham Hall, which was a former home of the Tirril Brewery.
The brewery had been set up by enthusiastic home brewers, Jason Hill and Stephen Mitchell. Over 12 months in the planning, initially Jason spent some time at a couple of local breweries to gain knowledge and insight into commercial brewing. These visits indicated that they needed mains sewage which neither had available. A chance call to Brougham Hall found the Old Brewery available at the beginning of December 2011.
The original plan was for a one barrel plant, but this would have been too small for the Old Brewery and they also managed to secure a deal with a local pub which meant larger plant was required. After looking at second hand equipment a visit to Ulverston Brewery with Vincent Johnson from Johnson Brewing convinced Jason to take new equipment. The equipment has all been supplied by Moodys and Johnson Brewing.
After working with brewers locally, and at York and Titanic breweries, Jason is now brewing on the new plant.
Note that Brougham is actually pronounced "broom"
