Appleby Brewery

Appleby Brewery was bought by Bowness Bay Brewery in 2019, and their beers are believed to be currently produced at the Bowness Bay Brewery in Kendal.

For the record, Appleby Brewery was founded in 2014, and production began in March 2015.

Head Brewer and owner Fred Mills decided to embrace his passion for beer and brewing after a career in management consultancy and training.

The brewery began at a site in Westmorland county town of Appleby, but a recent move to The Stables in Morland has allowed for expansion. As well as the Brew House, they have a Brew Bar and a shop selling their produce and merchandise. They also run "Brewery Tours" and are about to begin "Learn to brew courses" for budding brewers!

They have four ales in their line-up: Mid-Life Crisis a classic hoppy and bitter India Pale Ale, Senior Moment is their Best Bitter, a Golden ale named after the annual Appleby Horse Fair and Middle Aged Spread, an aptly named Stout!

Most of the ale names are autobiographical:- Midlife Crisis was the first ale they produced, aptly named whilst Fred felt he was experiencing a Midlife Crisis! Senior Moment Bitter is a reflection on Fred's age and state of mind also!
