Midland Hotel25 Clifford Street
Set in the beautiful Eden valley between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park this old railway pub, has its loyal local trade augmented by visitors to famous Carlisle-Settle Railway's Appleby station, which is next to the pub. A recent gutting and refurbishment has led to a light and airy, modern pub, with children's outdoor play area, popular as a trendy eating joint serving excellent, locally sourced food. It was CAMRA Westmorland pub of the year in 2013 and serves mainly beers from Cumbrian micro breweries with real cider and perry often available. Closed Mondays except Bank holidays. Food on Sundays in winter is served noon to 2pm only.
