Golden RuleSmithy Brow
Popular traditional pub with more entries in the Good Beer Guide than any other in Cumbria. Stalwart in not providing meals, piped sound, plasma TV or pool. One of the oldest pubs in Ambleside at the bottom of the infamous Struggle leading up to Kirkstone Pass, this locals and walkers/climbers pub has a main bar with beams and several photos on walls, with three side rooms. No children are allowed in the main bar. Pork pies, pickled eggs and Scotch eggs only on sale, often quickly sold out. Various local groups use the side rooms for meetings. Cask Marque accredited.
