Members of our branch are planning to be attending the Carlisle Beer Festival organised by by our neighbouring branch in Solway on Saturday 3rd November. The festival runs between Thursday 1st and Saturday 3rd November at The Venue, Carlisle. Admission is £4 for the general public and £2 for CAMRA members. Members are planning to be travelling to Carlisle on the train departing Oxenholme at 11:08 and Appleby at 11:19 (note these are different trains) on Saturday 3rd November. Please be aware that this is a turn up and attend event and we are not asking people to book for this ahead of time.

The trains from Oxenholme are run by Transpennine Express and Virgin Trains, so are unaffected by the RMT strike action. The trains from Appleby (and Windermere to Oxenholme) are run by Northern and so are affected. Acording to the National Rail website (www.nationalrail.co.uk) the 11:19 from Appleby to Carlisle is still in the timetable, with return trains from Carlisle at 14:04 and 18:24, and a replacement bus at 16:15.
